What is Work Rewards?
We are signing up households now.
But only 2,400 households can participate.
Eligible households will be selected by lottery- everyone has an equal chance!

If you currently have HPD or NYCHA Section 8, you may be eligible to have a chance at a great opportunity to receive:

  • Up to $1,800 per year for working full-time.
  • An extra $3,000 over two years for completing job or educational training while also working part-time.
  • Free community-based employment, education, and training services.
  • Additional money deposited into a five-year savings account that earns interest.
Take the chance
There is no guarantee that you will receive ALL of the services. But as long as you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, live in NYCHA or HPD Section 8 housing, are 18 years or older, and are within 130% of the poverty level...it’s free to join in on the lottery.

Work Rewards payments will not be counted towards your income for eligibility towards Section 8, Food Stamps, or public assistance!

If you are an SSI beneficiary, participation could affect your eligibility or benefit payment. There may be ways to avoid this by working with a Work Incentive Planning and Assistance Office (WIPA), whose purpose is to give SSI beneficiaries accurate information on how work activity will affect their benefits and help them take advantage of work incentives. Staff can let you know how to contact your local WIPA office.
